Some years ago, we had the #1 producing Stud dog in dals for several years. I
had someone who inquired about breeding to him and whether he did seizures or
not. We told her he had not done one (honest truth, he hadn't), but I wasn't
going to guarantee anything. She bred to him and got four that seizured and of
course, blamed Rob - found out down the line that the bitch had seizured
following the litter.
Rob also did pretty good hearing numbers except when bred into a certain line..
Two bitch with similar pedigrees were bred to him and both did 3 or 4 deaf
puppies and several unilateral (one eared hearing) pups... Except for those two
litters, his hearing percentages were outstanding.
Makes you really hate being a stud dog owner, but it also really makes you hate
being a bitch owner looking for a stud dog :-P ALthough genetics SHOULD be cut
and dry, luck and disappointment get in the way too.
Goes to show that nothing in life is for certain except............... death
and taxes.....
