Just to set the record straight...
Clostridium perfringens which causes Clostridium Enterotoxemia is NOT an
organism like Coccidia or Giardia. Coccidia and Giardia are single celled
parasitic organisms classified as protozoa. Clostridium perfringes is a
bacterium. It does not damage the gut directly like a parasite, but rather
produces a necrotizing (tissue killing) toxin which causes severe and often
deadly enteritis and toxemia. This enteritis is commonly known as "toxic gut."
In humans, it's known as "Pig Bel."
Also, it's not the organism that remains dormant in soil, but rather the spores
that the bacterium produces.
