I plant garlic next to my roses to deter bugs and aphids.
I plant beans with my strawberries .
I also ring all my strawberry plants with eggshells that are crushed but still
sharp. My mother used to use diatomaceous earth to deter slugs. The other
method is to put a bowl of beer near the plants. Mom used to sink the bowl so
that they’d fall in - Dad always thought it was a waste of good beer.
I’ve heard of people using crushed peanut shells. Don’t use walnut shells as
they have an enzyme that deters growth around the trees or the seeds.
Google companion planting for the best way to use your plants to fight off bugs
and to help each other grow 😊
