I have to back Kay 100% on her position.
I know few west coast people who’s dogs are with a handler. Some are with a
conditioner, but even that is for a short period of time (not full time). And I
would note that the dogs that do reside with a handler (regardless of location)
… well here is a news flash for you… those handlers provide boarding and
conditioning services… and shocker they are COMPENSATED for their expenses and
time…. They get compensated for transporting the dogs…. To a dog show or the
national…. So I do not see why those people that are being paid for the
services they are rendering should be given priority cause Theresa thinks they
all live in the Midwest.
I am not quite sure why my missing two weeks of work, or Kay boarding her dogs
for a week, or Carolyn and Frank having to leave the ranch for two weeks to get
to a show (after driving 3 days each way) or Evan who can’t take a dog cause he
won’t fly and/or miss two weeks of work, or heaven forbid someone drives cross
country with FB (VBG)… should not be given priority over the PROFESSIONALS who
are being compensated…. And as far as West Coast handlers, I can only think of
three that have dogs boarding with them…. And guess what if they go to the
national and not all their charges go they get to pay someone to take care of
those dogs OR send them home …. Either one costs them money……
Bottom line is the West Coast people got screwed (again)… the Parent Club is a
non-profit… this Purina situation is advantageous to certain people and the
don’t care how it impacts the rest of the club and membership. I would be more
concerned about the brain trust we will lose when senior members with loads to
offer say adios and loudly play “HIT THE ROAD JACK” as the Parent Club pulls
away to Purina Farms….
So keep on excluding the West Coast and see what we lose… furthermore a
National is not a National if the entirety of the nation cannot participate…
