Yes, AKC and the Parent Club still do. AKC sent me a "Championship
Certificate" and the Parent Club a "Certificate of Achievement". They both
sent me the same for his CD. Very nice.

As for newbies, perhaps the parent club could look at a certificate for
that
first champion, first CD, first whatever?
When I had my first GSD and got her CD (back in the dark ages), the parent
club sent me a certificate. Think I still have it. And an invitation to
join the GSDCA which I immediately did. I'm not sure if we are still
sending out certificates to people when they title a dog but we should. It
certainly doesn't cost much and could bring in some new members.
