[ SHOWGSD-L ] Re: Results from the North East Futurities/Maturities are posted

Theresa it's not uncommon for there to be atrition at the futurities,
especially in the junior classes. People enter based on the promise of a young
dog. Sometimes that puppy doesn't turn out as planned, may be going through
pano or a growth spurt and doesn't look their best. I had a bitch that was born
in October the previous year so she was just over 6 months of age. It just
wasen't worth the expense of traveling, handler fees etc., for that young of
dog so I didn't show her in the futurity but waited for the Maturity. All of
these things affect whether a dog is brought out to show on that weekend.
Unless our club has the futurity that year I have to travel a great distance to
attend a Futurity. So those things play into the decision to show a young dog.
