I had one bitch who'd had her stomach tacked who bloated. She almost died before the surgery and was doing fine, but had to change homes. She came to live with me (co-owner) and one morning I found her dead. She was only three. As far as colic in horses, I was visiting a friend one time who had horses. They had gotten into some grain and eaten a fair amount. Since she did not know exactly who had done it, she called the vet out to pump their stomachs. I watched that and it was not a pretty sight! But it was better to be safe than sorry.
