One thing I would definitely love to see done that would be very
informative.... is for the National Chair
to give a complete Financial report on the National itself ....by
itself.....after each National....at whatever
meeting this is possible.

I am in absolute agreement that the information discussed and the decisions
made at the Board meetings should be public information. I also believe
that if a decision is made, there was a basis for it and that the membership
should be able to understand what it was - whether they agree with it or
not. The time for the membership to decide whether they agree or not with
the positions of the Board meetings is in the annual election. Some members
do their research about various positions and choose who to vote for wisely;
some vote based on name recognition. Same thing happens in every
organization and even in the various governments in our county. Some people
have informed votes; some people don't.
I'm a big fan of using technology to solve problems (where it makes sense).
Having said that, I've observed that teleconferencing is a giant leap for
any organization. I have been employed by large organizations that have
made the transition but it have NOT been overnight. It's been a process
that evolved over time and evolved differently within each organizations.
It's more than technology; it's a big leap in people dynamics to go from
meeting in person to meeting over an Internet connection and phone line
where you're not in the same room with the person who is speaking. Like
members of this List, some of the Board members are more experienced with
technology and computers than others.
Why don't we give the Board a chance to test this concept and learn how to
walk before everyone jumps in and starts pushing for them to run a marathon.
The meeting will still be recorded and BOGs and minutes will still be sent
out.

I am hoping the same Evan. If they have tele conference meetings members
should be able to attend and not have to pay a lot to do so. Some of the
places that support these meeting can cost 5 to 10 cents a minutes for
everyone to call in.
The GSDC of Canada has a 800 number for their board to phone in and I
believe the membership could also phone in at no cost.
Would not like to see members not included in the meetings for the GSDCA.
Also understand a board member is trying to go back to the no cell phone,
no computers at open meetings. I can see why ringing would be bothersome,
but for the sake of emergencies, I doubt a vibrating phone would be a
bother.
As to computers, perhaps Evans free flow of information was too much for
some to cope with. Cannot comprehend why club business should be a secret
at any time. Its a dog club for heavens sake! I would hope our board
members see a point of reason that information is always the highway
especially
if they want to include the members in their club.
