Well, I am just getting myself functioning after getting to bed at 3 am
Thursday.
Tina went into labor about 10 am Thursday and just could not seem to push
long and hard enough to deliver a puppy. We were monitoring her with the
Whelp Wise system and it showed contractions time after time but no delivery
results.
I called our superb Vet, Dr Katherine Settle about 5PM and after
discussion, I headed to Sanford (50 miles from Raleigh).
She examined Tina and after further discussion, we agreed to doing a
C-section. Her husband John Schontz, who is the cutter in the family (surgeon)
came in and did the C-section about 7:30pm.
He, Katherine and her great team of supporting vet tech's delivered 4 boys
and 4 girls. (That is why I drive that far, because they are outstanding)
Brought everyone home about 11pm and sat with Tina until 3 am when I faded
into bed.
Then at 6:30 am Friday I checked them and Tina is keeping them beautifully
clean, they are nursing properly and all is well.
A special thanks to Scott & Loren for guiding us to Bronson, to Sheri and
Jimmy for making him available and working with us to making it so
convenient. A great big thanks to Charlotte and Larry Gilbert for managing and
making the breeding happen while Sheri was in Canada at shows.
Our grandchildren are insisting on visiting rights today immediately after
St Francis of Assisi lets them out. They would all have played hooky but
their moms said no.
