Giants are a great breed... BUT, remember Schnauzer means terrier. Like the
GSD they are natural protectors. I don't personally know any breeders,
other than by name at the shows, but I am sure someone here will.
As to the trainer... I do not know him, but a) the price is pretty steep for
a 2yr old dog, and b) at 2 I'd be wondering how thorough and complete the
training is.
Besides all that, the main question is why does he want a "protection" dog?
A trained dog is not a pet. It is a working animal, and though they can live
with the family, the training must be kept up and reinforced regularly.

A friend has asked me about protection dogs. Specifically, he wants to know
if a Giant Schnauzer would be a good choice for him and his family (kids
ranging from young to early teens), and if David Harris is a reputable
trainer (I think he trains GSDs as well) . He's being quoted prices of
around 25k for a 2 year old dog.
Does anyone have any input about the trainer (or alternate suggestions) or
price?
