We are pregnant and work up to our ninth month, horses are ridden till
shortly before they foal, cows milk till their last month, before they drop
a calf. Dogs have no problem working up to shortly before they whelp, in
fact if they are in good shape from working they usually have a easier
delivery. Besides why would they be more exposed if they go to training
class or a show. They are more likely to pick up something from the vets
office than a show. Build a strong immune system by exposing the dog to

We do need to expose our dogs to life to build a strong immune system.
However, if a pregnant bitch has not been previously exposed to canine
herpes virus, and just happens to run into it as the vet, training class, or
a show....she could contract it and would stand a good chance of loosing her
litter. Go to Google and type in canine herpes virus.....I have a friend
who just lost a litter to it, so I decided to learn about it..... A bitch
who has had herpes usually doesn't have a problem with subsequent litters.
But do you want to take a chance on that litter? All dogs are susceptible
to CHV. Infection is usually not apparent except in pregnant females and
puppies younger than 3 weeks.
Just one more thing to worry about!!!
