There is a controversy raging and there are differences of opinion on
the DM cause and testing for GSD's.
I am not a scientist and do not have the qualifications to give an
authoritative conclusion, so each person will have to make up their
own minds. There is a DM list you can join at:

Basically the controversy is that the U of Missouri team headed by Dr.
Coates worked from a hypothesis that DM is basically the equivalent of
ALS in humans and successfully found the gene that OFA is testing for.
Dr. Clemmons flash test is looking for another gene as his hypothesis
is that DM is not equivalent to ALS. At least this is my understanding
which is always suspect and should be ignored at all cost.
These two sites will give more research findings than you can possibly
read in one setting.
Good luck, and may we find the right test and eliminate this disease
by any means.
