Thanks for the beautiful post, Evan,
My prayers and thoughts are with Jennifer right now.
Paul Root LOVED life...especially Jennifer. He loved with all his heart and
soul....he'd give anyone the shirt off his back...and he promoted equality and
peace for his beloved nation and the world as a whole.
Paul was patriotic...he loved the United States of America and served his
country on the frontlines of Vietnam!
So many of us benefited from his writing...usually to this very list... he
educated us and he persuaded some of us and he was always up for a good, fair
debate.
Paul was an amazing friend to me...a shoulder to lean on...a partner to sing
show tunes with...and he could prepare incredible, gourmet meals at the drop of
a hat... often using whatever he had in the fridge.
As for Paul's contributions to the breed....oh, those beautiful Rivendell
Bitches ....still alive and influencing pedigrees today...most going back to
their beloved "Brando." As much as Paul love to breed dog and compete in the
ring....he was in his absolute element when he judged. I learned from watching
him judge and by asking questions about his choices. He loved to talk about
structure and motion!!
We traveled to shows for years, and we were always packing a copy (or two) of
the soundtrack to "Chicago!" On the longer trips, Jennifer would plead with us
to put another CD in the drive....but we'd hear none of that....we had to sing
"All That Jazz"....just one more time.
I love you Paul....I'll be seeing you, dear friend,
Jack Kilgour

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Paul Root
I know we should expect this sort of thing, but it is never acceptable.
Paul was a special person. He and I had a close relationship, and for years
Paul was fighting to continue to live and enjoy the shepherd world.
When we talked, lately it was about the struggle he was going through, and at
times, how difficult life had become.
But, always with a joke, or laugh. That is how I remember Paul.
He was always ready to provide me with a humorous situation, and we always were
able to laugh together.
The shepherd world lost a great man this time, Paul Root was special.
I will miss Paul, as will so many. Maybe the best thing that can be said of
someone when they die,is they left behind so many friends, so many strong
memories, and so many who will miss them.
We will all miss Paul, he gave to the shepherd world joy, humor, happiness and
memories.
