Just an update on Mom (aka Grandma). It's been a very scary several days.
She has the permanent pacemaker in, after taking 1300ML of fluid off her
right lung she was breathing better, and it helped her be able to qualify
for the ventilator being taken off. They finally took the vent tubes out
yesterday morning after having to wait for almost 3 hours ("awake") aka
lightly sedated on propofol, she was very brave as she has a terrible gag
reflex anyway (any of you that know her know how that is). But they pulled
the tube, turned off the "pohpoh" (what we called it) and it's amazing how
she's doing. She's not out of the woods, but she's talking, and thankfully
and amazingly, she has no true recollection of being on the vent, or
anything during that time, although we were able to communicate with her
while she was "out" and it was clear *she* was still in "there" -- Fiesty
old broad. LOL Anyway, thank you everyone for your kind thoughts. Like I
said, we're not out of the woods yet, but there's some light.
