[ SHOWGSD-L ] Pancreatic Enzyme Deficiency

All,
First of all, a big CONGRATS to all the great dogs at the National. The
pictures were tremendous and Evan's commentaries were great.
I have a breeder friend who does not have a computer. She has a 7 yr. old
bitch who was diagnosed over a year ago with pancreatic enzyme deficiency.
Diagnosis was proven by the specific blood test that is done. She is currently
on Viokase V and gets 6 tablets in her food twice a day (12 in all). In
addition, she gets Prozyme sprinkled on top of her food. She is fed Purina Pro
Plan and gets 6-7 cups daily broken into two feedings. She also is given an
all around vitamin, Interceptor heartworm medication.
The problem is that she is losing weight even though she eats more than my
friend's other dogs who are IMO overweight.
Does anyone have any experience with this disease and could possibly offer
suggestions - another food, additives, something more to be checked for, etc.?
I know I always get the best advice from all the experienced breeders out there
who have encountered just about everything.
