More female judges are wearing slacks - if its ok for weddings, funerals and
church dog shows should be fine.
One pet peeve I have in how a handler dresses besides just being neat and
clean is wearing clothes appropriate to the dog(s) you are showing. I hate to
see a handler in black slacks showing a black or predominantly dark dog. A
lighter color shows the dog off better to the judge, looks much better in
photo's after...Now if you are trying to hide a problem in the back the dark
color will help that!!
I also don't like to see females showing shepherds with longer flowing
clothing ....it is very distracting and breaks ones concentration.
And for a dear friend who is a judge, I must mention her pet peeve. The
gals with pony tails are also very distracting running when the hair is flip
flopping all over. It draws your eye to it, not the dog. This is about
presentation of the dog.....those of you who are starting out, see how the
ones
who have been in the ring for years present both themselves and the dogs and
follow the lead, so to speak!
