I do not know the specifics (countries etc) but our news reports here said
that after Dec 2005 (or was it 2006?) everyone entering the US from specific
areas of the world need a passport, that EVERYONE entering the country by
sea or by air would need a passport to enter the US after Dec 2007, and that
after Dec 2008 EVERYONE entering the US would need a passport, period. This
all includes US citizens returning (I have no idea about from PR) (this last
one being people who are driving in from anywhere). I do not know when US
citizens will have to start using passports to get home..
85% of Canadians already have and use passports - not so with US citizens -
so they reported. You guys will be the ones most affected by this..
I expect immigration is going to be very busy...
