Tonight on the West Coast and in the early hours of tomorrow morning on the
East Coast, a total lunar eclipse will be completely visible high in the sky.
What makes this eclipse so special is that it corresponds with the Winter
solstice. The last time this occurred was in 1638.
The total eclipse begins at 11:41 p.m. PST Monday or 2:41 a.m. EST Tuesday.
The totality phase -- when the moon is entirely inside Earth's shadow -- will
last a little over an hour. The shadow cast over the moon will turn the moon
blood red. It should be spectacular!
