This is a very thought provoking post. Good one Stormy. I couldn't stand anywhere and pronounce any of the people running less than honorable and good. I may not agree with some of the people on some of the issues. I think most people want to do the best they can, and most times they achieve that, and sometimes they fall short. Sometimes they loose sight of the goal. This is not exclusive to our small world of dogs, this is true for life in general. I think our efforts need to be on first figuring out what the club needs. I think it is good, unifying, strong leadership. Then we need to identify those who can offer those qualities to the club.........realistically......... leaving aside the "I love you Man!" mentality. One expectation I have is that when someone is wrong, they admit to it, apologize, and work to correct the problem. If you don't agree with me, don't vote for me. But chances are I will still be saying the same things, and hoping and working for the good of the club, and the dogs, whether I am an officer of the club or just a member. Because regardless of the position, I believe the responsibility is the same. It is the responsibility of the Board to get the business done, and the responsibility of the members to man the Board as best as they can. I find it interesting that some people seem unable to disagree and remain civil. Even our dogs can do that. Time to start acting as adults, not our shoe sizes. As someone told me recently: "Time to stop wasting energy, we don't have to be friends, we just don't need to be enemies." Amen to that! Ileana In a message dated 8/22/2009 3:31:42 P.M. Now I need to look at the whole list again and ask my self some questions. If I were running for the board, I think I would work REALLY hard to discuss what I could bring to the Board, and why I think I could do that so expertly and efficiently, honest and wise, that people would understand who I was and for what I stood. I think I would work REALLY hard not to disparage other "contenders." While I might agree that some are better suited for running this very large corporation that others, what does each person bring to the board that would let me think that they would do a good job in the "Board Room." Are they communicating to the full membership, as much as they possibly could be? Do they communicate a lot just before elections, then never hear from them again? Have they kept their "skirts/trousers" clean as far as building unity and good will through the membership? What special experience does the candidate have that would be a special asset? Do they play in the sandbox in harmony, while still asserting their opinions in their part of the sandbox?
