Carolyn brings up several good points in her post but the one that struck me as
so important is her comment on the importance of watching temperament in our
breed. It is great that we have the streaming video so those of us on FB have
the opportunity to see GSDs all over the country. I have watched 3 Fut/Mat and
several specialty shows. I am extremely dismayed that I have seen very
respected judges award dogs, who could not be touched numerous times, be
awarded with first place wins and even reserves. In my opinion, if you can’t
touch the dog on the initial contact why are they being awarded? Yes, I
certainly understand that every dog can have a bad day, but that dog should be
judged on its performance that day and not be “given a break or a second or
third chance to behave”. I can just imagine Bob Penny rolling his eyes and
shaking his head. JMHO

Thanks Gary. Most of us totally understand how difficult it is to please

It’s my intention to allow the membership to voice their opinion in the very
near future. Please be patient for just a little longer.

St. Louis.... over time, this 'preferred' location is going to have a big
affect on the German Shepherd Dog Breed I think.
So many of us in the West are no longer going to make the effort to get to
that same site over and over...and that in
time will affect our membership.....which will in time in some ways affect
breedings and the Breed itself.
There ARE more members in the East, and that does often affect Parent Club
decisions and naturally it appears more
are happy and satisfied with the St. Louis location.....( can't blame them )
But many of us who are affected by this same location in an opposite way will
sooner or later give up on the National
most of the time. That in time, will affect the Futurities and the
membership.
Right now.........Colorado is a 'lifeline' for many of us.............

The white issue is not dead. It seems that after being beat down again and
again, the white advocates have moved forward with their own shows. I do
suspect the various proposals will be back at some time, and I hope to be
here to see them.
As to St. Louis, some like myself have determined to just not enter dogs. I
can't give up the time to drive, and I don't feel comfortable taking dogs on
a plane. Kierk turns nine tomorrow, and it is amazing how the time goes by.
Summer was the first person to show him and took him to Select. She came by
my office yesterday, and starts college in a few weeks. She was just nine
when she first showed Kierk, and despite everyone telling me he was too much
dog for her, she did just fine with him.
Tedi and I went to a local all breed where Jimmy was the judge. There was
only one German shepherd. I wish I had known, I would have returned to the
ring with Kierk just to be there.
Kierk just bred a champion bitch last night, and so we hope to see puppies
soon. He has proven his worth, so he gets to sleep on the bed now.
