It doesn't matter what is behind them, both parents have to carry the black and tan gene, and not pass on the sable gene. If one of them carries the double sable gene, all the puppies will be sable. Our first bitch was a Ghengis grand daughter, who carried the double sable gene. We never had anything but sable pups.
