You know, on a serious note, watching the news 2 weeks ago there was a blip
about a string of 11+ robberies in a bucolic section of Bucks County PA where
my sister lives. She has an almost 3 year old male GSD who sometimes gets
crated while she is at work. I immediately left a message in no uncertain
terms was that dog to be crated! He WILL jump up on the door if a stranger
knocks, but I would much rather a scratch on a door jamb than a home invasion
while a dog is crated. (And this is a dog who WOULD bite first ask questions
later. It's super quiet (isolated!), where they live, he's an "only child"
and he's extremely protective of my sister and "their" place.)
I think we're going to see a lot more of this as the economy worsens. Makes
you appreciate a dog w/ a big bark, no?
