[ SHOWGSD-L ] Need Help/Info (Dog Dying)

I got a call from Ava's owners whom I placed a few
months ago.  She is 5 1/2 and has been doing great,
was spayed about a month ago, no problems.  The past 2
weeks, she was looking thin so she upped her food some
(feeding a mix of  royal Canin gsd, abundance,
healthwise).  She has been active, taking long walks
daily, playing ball like crazy, etc. Spoiled rotten.
She was LAWAYS running while she lived here,.  Been to
the vet got blood work done since she looked
thin...NOTHING.....so her owner thought she'd be fine,
just recovering/gaining weight from being spayed.


Last night she was breathing heavy, she flew her into
Univ of Penn.  By the time she got htere, she could
not walk.  Vet listened to her heart, Grade 4 to 6
Heart Mumor.  Took xrays, chest filled with fluid,
congestwedheart failure.  she is on respirators, and
getting surgery as we speak.  


Question is: Could we have known prior?  Could she
always had a grade 4 heart mumor?  Can Heart mumors
just appear?  Could it be something else?  If yes,
what?  Are there any tests we need to look at?


ANY HELP/INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!! Vets are
baffled, since there was NO indications of heart
problems prior.  She has been seen recently due to
being spayed, no problems being spayed, and has a ton
of blood work done a few weeks ago...and now this. 
Any suggesstions of whaat they could look at please
send.  And please pray for Ava since this is
heartbreaking to all.
