       AN ACT to amend the general business law, in relation to prohibiting
the
         sale of dogs born on puppy farms by pet dealers

         THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND
ASSEM-
       BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

    1    Section 1. The general business law is amended by adding a new
section
    2  753-f to read as follows:
    3    S  753-F.  PROHIBITION OF SALE OF DOGS BORN ON PUPPY FARMS. 1. FOR
THE
    4  PURPOSE OF THIS SECTION "PUPPY FARM" SHALL MEAN A BUSINESS WHICH
BREEDS
    5  DOGS FOR SALE TO PET DEALERS AND OTHERS AND SELLS MORE THAN
SEVENTY-FIVE
    6  DOGS  BRED  BY SAID BUSINESS WHICH ARE PUPPIES TO DEALERS AND OTHERS
FOR
    7  THE PURPOSE OF RESALE TO OTHERS.
    8    2. A PET DEALER OR OTHER PERSON SHALL NOT SELL A DOG BRED ON  A
PUPPY
    9  FARM  WHICH WAS PURCHASED OR RECEIVED BY SUCH PET DEALER OR OTHER
PERSON
   10  FROM A PUPPY FARM.
   11    S 2. This act shall take effect on the sixtieth  day  after  it
shall
   12  have become a law.

brackets
