I don't think anyone uses OFA just to do a breeding. It has always been a
guideline, but I must admit that seeing an excellent on a stud may want me
to sway toward that particular dog. However, from my past experience I must
say that even that is no guarantee for the progeny to have good hips and
elbows. I found that out the hard way.
Someone stated (I think it was Stormy)that one needs to look at the pedigree
to see how many OFA's are behind a male or female. Perhaps that is the best
way to go, I don't know. This is a very delicate subject and should be used
according to what your conscience dictates you. JMHO

I have always been a suporter of the OFA and I still am. But, Jack's post
raised my main objection to them. If one of the three, who happens to be the
smartest of them all says yes, but the other two say no, the no stands, or

quality on the majority opinion.
Why not say only one person decides, or if all three can't decide, it isn't
accurate? After all, to convict someone of a crime, 12 out of 12 have to
agree. If there are only 11, there is no conviction.
We need to question if there shouldn't be a total conviction at the OFA.
Would we want to go 2 out of 3 to put someone in jail? And, yet, we use it
to
base our breeding program on. We need to use OFA. But, the key is to use
it,
not follow it blindly or make it the only reason to do a breeding.
