Oh Ed...Please. You have got to be kidding! Took my little dog in yesterday
to show my vet what I figured was a Lipoma...yep, it was. Of course they stuck
a stick up his butt to get a fecal, even though I have not had a dog with worms
(except for a few puppies) in 40 years. Then told me I needed to get his shots
done prior to taking him in for his teeth cleaning. Tried to sell me
Heartguard but I told him I had some. He would totally freak if he knew that I
gave all my dogs Ivermec monthly for heartworm (costs next to nothing) and also
use Fish-vol for the occasional poops. Anyway, $150 later I walked out of the
clinic. On Friday I take the Slovakians in for their "annual"....bet that
total will be close to $500 for some shots and probably a HW test. and fecal
(which I will bring in...no stick up the butt for these two!). No, I do like
vets and know that they don't make the huge annual salary that many think they
do....well, except for the owner of the practice. I miss the old "country vet"
types. Best Cynthia vande001@xxxxxxxxx

I am NOT criticizing Vets! These folks are dedicated people who have spent
years and years studying in colleges and Universities tying to keep our animals
and pets in good health! They are worth more than what they make! But nothing
is perfect and honest discussion and review is necessary to improve the overall
heath of all our animals, especially the one that we have domesticated to use
for our own use, that's pretty much the definition of domestication... vets are
Kool, we could not have healthy pets without them! Ed Hill
