The last forward from NAIA brings to our attention that there have
been some worthwhile lawsuits brought and being brought against
overreaching animal control, AR groups such as HSUS, PETA in the last
couple of years. These lawsuits are expensive and the dog fancy have
been remarkable in donating to the cause.
These court cases can be used as precedents in other states and are
valuable in our fight against bad animal laws and the states and local
governments moving against our animals. What MUST be remembered,
however,is that a poor filing of an unwinnable case also sets
precedent. We should be prepared to support where we can and learn
the difference.
Following are some of the lawsuits that are now in the courts. If you
want more information about any of them,please let me know. We need
to fight these people in the courts, as well as in the ballot booths.

This week, Missouri filed a lawsuit against HSUS, the State of
Missouri,over the wrongful acceptance of Petition to place a bill
limiting breeding in the upcoming election. More on that later.
NAIA Trust Sues Volusia
Over Anti-Breeder Ordinance
NAIA Trust has sued Volusia County over its 2008 ordinance which
strictly regulates ?hobby breeders? and allows for warrantless
searches of breeders residences. The ordinance, which applies to un-
incorporated areas of the county, requires hobby breeders to obtain
licenses from the county and to consent to searches of their homes
without any notice or cause.
