For the past ten years, I have made but one New Year's  Resolution.  So far I 
have kept every one.
 
I always resolve to live another year.
 
Every New Years Eve, after I close the office and send home the staff, I  
turn off all the lights, sit back at my desk, put my feet up on the desk, lean  
back, and marvel that I survived another year.  So many of my friends and  
family are gone, people who meant much to me and others, no longer here. I  
remember those who I never got to call that one more time, and those who I  
called, 
but never said what I should have said. I reflect on what I have done to  make 
it to the end of another year without failure or worse, health issues, and  
lived to be able to reflect one more time.  I marvel that some people asked  me 
for help, and some listened to my advice, and a few even paid me, so I could  
support my staff and their families.  I think of the dogs that loved me,  and 
that I miss every minute of every day. I think of Destiny, Lethel Wepon,  
Ben, The Kid, Subpoena, Chimes, Paper Chase, Tracy, Dragonslayer, Cap, Tequila  
Sunrise, Loki, and so many more.
 
I hope all of those who read this realize that they will be part of my  
reflections this year, and even if I never say it, I appreciate that you  have 
helped me to make it to 2009.  I resolve to live another  year.  I will work as 
if 
I didn't need the money, dance as if no one can  see me, and sing as if no 
one can hear. If that works, I might even make it to  another national.
 
Thanks, and there is nothing wrong with that.
