In all due respect, and I do not know Betty, but the problem is not the
purchase of a dog by a judge that is bothersome, but rather there is the
thought that she may have waited to purchase the dog after the show as a
quid pro quo and maybe got a better price as a result. A dog who already is
a champion is not a new dog to the german shepherd community. Why did it
take her so long to contact the owner and purchase an interest in the dog?
I don't know the answers to these questions, and it could merely be a
coincidence that she purchased an interest in the dog right after the show,
but it sure makes someone think about the issue. This goes to the issue of
appearance of impropriety. Again, I don't know the facts in this case and
it can all be coincidence.

Interesting discussion, but I fail to see why this is even an ISSUE. Anyone
can see a dog at a Show, and try to purchase that dog, whether a Judge,
Handler, Breeder or fancier. And I'm sure many do - I'm also sure that any
of the above said people are going to Purchase a dog meeting THEIR
criteria of a "GREAT GSD". So what is the PROBELEM?
