I've never felt that way. I keep back what I want but I am proud to say I
have placed more than a few very finishable dogs in companion and
performance homes.
You can't keep them all and I'd much rather they are in a home, underfoot,
playing w/ "their" children than warehoused in pens.

The article is about the selection of the performance puppy. The primary
criteria being good structure. Several years ago there was a discussion
on this list about breeders selling puppies to performance people. The
breeders basically said they would hold back their best puppies and only offer
the lesser puppies for sale to the performance person. Some of the
performance people took offense because they wanted to be able to pick from
the
entire litter. I've seen dogs with bad structure perform on heart, but it
would have been so much easier if they had been built correctly. Do you guys
still feel the same as you did back then about this topic?
