[ SHOWGSD-L ] Insanity!...I quit!..lol..not yet.

        One of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and 
over and expecting something DIFFERENT to happen!...If you do what you've 
always done, you'll get what you always got!...I've been hanging around this 
MAN MADE conformation sport of showing dogs since 1996...even though my dad 
showed Great Danes briefly in the early 70's... I've spent tons of money, 
bought lots of dogs, breed some not so show type litters and had only one 
successful dog in the ring, Ironically he was my first show dog...go 
figure...this is NOT a" woe is me" post...if the ride ends today I had a great 
time, and anyway I don't roll that way..lol... I'll have GSDs for as long as I 
can, but when I get out of conformation I plan to go to Germany and buy an 
import....My last litter was an out cross and a genetic disaster!..yes that 
could be strictly coincidental and I am not in any way saying the breed is 
going down the tubes health wise...but we ARE a small
 gene pool and the pool seems to be getting smaller!...years ago many GSD 
breeders imported and bred to German dogs all the time...not sure of their 
reasons, but I believe this would be a great thing to do for our future...so 
this is exactly what I plan to do, and I'm not going to do it to breed show 
dogs. I'll do it to improve MY dogs!...my son is an outcross...his mom is from 
El Salvador!..lol...no I'm not going back on my promise to my wife...I said  
never again would I buy a SHOW dog!...don't tell her...lol...FB
