I picked out a Tibetan Spaniel for his great attitude when he was 6 weeks old.  
I had taken the puppies to the vet for a checkup.  I had two pups in each 
crate.  I set them on the floor and opened both doors.  Rhett came out of that 
crate and looked around the room like he owned it!  I had seen that attitude 
once in a shepherd puppy years ago.  I kept him as my pick and at his very 
first show at the tender age of 6 months he went winners dog at our national 
specialty for his first major.  He went on to win every time he stepped in the 
ring except under one judge who I noticed did not put up puppies.  He finished 
at age 7 1/2 months.  He was a pistal to hand off to anyone else while I took 
my special in, but I never cared if he got BOW.  He's always shown his heart 
out for me.  It came naturally to him and he was very easy to train and show.  
If I had tons of money I'd put him back out there to get his grand champion 
title.  (Sad note on that shepherd pup I picked....he went to his new owner as 
pick of the litter and ended up dying shortly thereafter due to parvo.  We 
never got to see his potential realized.)
