Los Angeles  County Meeting Regarding Proposed Kennel Regulations â?? Support 
 Responsible Breeders
 
Dear AKC Delegates, Club Officers, Judges and  Breeders,
 
Please forward this to your club members who  live in the Los Angeles area.
 
 
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal  Care and Control will hold a 
meeting on Tuesday, November 30th to  discuss proposed changes to the Animal 
Welfare Ordinance which affects breeders  and kennel owners in the 
community. It is VITAL that responsible owners and  breeders attend this 
meeting and 
support the local kennel  owners!
 
We understand that opponents of responsible  breeders will be in attendance 
and are asking the county to write a new  draft to include a limit on the 
number of dogs a breeder may own as well as  rigid and burdensome engineering 
standards for crate sizes and exercise  requirements.
 
While questions and concerns still exist  regarding the proposed draft, 
responsible kennel owners have worked positively  with county staff and members 
of the local humane community to draft an  ordinance which provides for 
reasonable, effective and enforceable regulations  that protect the health and 
safety of animals while not placing excessive  burdens on responsible 
breeders.
