I cannot answer that question.
I have asked who made the decision to hold the World Trials, and didn't get
much of an answer. What I was told was that it was an honour that we
requested, and we were granted the "right". I don't know if the GSDCA has the
ability or the finances to do this, but I hope they do. I don't even know
if it was a board decision, but I am going to assume it was.
I know it is a big commitment, and is actually the provence of the WDA,
which of course is a branch of the GSDCA. How it will work out is yet to be
seen.
I was told there would be sponsors to pay the bills, but so far, I don't
believe any have been obtained. But, I am not on the board, so I am not
privy to the information. Perhaps there are commitments, and maybe a board
member can respond.
If this works and the GSDCA recovers the costs, (or at least is able to
meet the commitments) then it will be a huge success for our club. If it
fails, it could well cause the club to fail as well.
It must be a decision of our board in running our club, as to the realities
of the situation and the vote to go forward. I understand we have put a
deposit on the location, and our board did agree to do this.
I have faith in our board and those we elected. We have a number of new
board members who have been running businesses, and another group who
understand finances by working in that industry. We need to stand behind
them,
criticise them when we don't agree, and have some faith that they will pull it
off.
I am but one of the "little people". I show my dogs, I read the List, I
enjoy my friends, and let the board run my club. We elected them, let's now
support them.
