I took a moment to look at the 2015 catalog… and saw there were over 90 entries
shown for combined dogs & bitches… 18 months and under!!! (not counting
absentees) That the entry is substantially more than “in the building” (at
$100 to enter the SV style, versus $35 for the AKC style)… I am inclined to say
that the event even made a bit of money last year. As I understand it, the
money difference is in that there are more judges’ expenses and there is a
written critique for each dog that is entered, so the participants at SV style
events find that acceptable.
However, I do wonder about the trophy donations— though I do not know about
last year, I do know that this year there have been multiple calls for the
GSDCA Sieger show trophies- just the other day there were sponsorships
available for quite a large number (77) of trophies. If they were all
sponsored last year, what happened differently this year that they are not?
Splitting the costs of the Purina Grounds (**or ANY grounds rented for the “big
shows”) behooves the bottom lines for BOTH style shows/trials; and I think,
encourages the members to browse around the different events available for our
viewing pleasure… and the pleasure of the public, right?

There are Many SV Regional Clubs that are members of the GSDCA - over 27 clubs
There are 80 plus AKC Clubs. There is a map showing the states and clubs
(There is a graphic up
on the GSDCA website)
The Sieger show made 12K at Purina last year.
It isn't a different Club - the GSDCA is the WUSV Club in the United States.
The AKC recognizes
the IPO title
If Conformation does not support itself at our National, should we stop doing
conformation? That is
the rational some of you are proffering about the SV style. The F/M Lost $$$
save for donations
and fund raisers to bring them out of the red, so do we get that?
Performance events more than support themselves at our National.
The GSDs that need IPO work to get breeding rights can only do it thru a Club
that is recognized
by Germany - and that is the Countries Parent Club - Us the GSDCA

Our dogs are more than just herding dogs - they work - they do search and
rescue, lead the
blind.protect the peace.
The Working dog group at the AKC got too large so they split off a new group
called Herding.but it
does not define our breed.
Your Board is busy working out ways to keep the SV style events costs
down.and that has nothing
to do with the inability to find an affordable site west of the rockies
