Easy enough to do a cheek swab for the black recessive at this point.
I started doing that when deciding who to keep at 5+ weeks forward...coat
length, black recessive and DM. Puppies under 6 weeks I send blood on a
q-tip, over 6 weeks a cheek swab.

this true? We made a breeding last summer, our first in 5 years, between
Izzy (a bi-color who carries for black as her sire is black) and Roadie who
is sable (one black and tan parent and one sable, with no blacks in the
immediate background.) We got three very dark black and tans and 3
sables--the black and tans are NOT bi-colored. Do you think that any of
these pups will carry for bi-color? Some should carry for black;
hopefully the 2 sisters that we kept. LOL
