To clarify the herding info presented in the Board O Gram:
A Course (3-5 head of sheep in a 100' x 200' arena)
Will be held in Nova OH at Hado-Bar Farms. Nova is a teeny-tiny municipality
north of Ashland, OH in north-central OH.
Saturday 10/10
a.m. GSD only A Course Sheep Trial (HS, HI, HX)
p.m. All-Breed A Course Sheep Trial (HS, HI, HX) & Tests (HT & PT)
p.m. All-breed A Course Duck Trial (HS, HI, HX)
Sunday 10/11
a.m. GSD only A Course Sheep Trial (HS, HI, HX)
p.m. All-Breed A Course Sheep Trial (HS, HI, HX) & Tests (HT & PT)
p.m. All-breed A Course Duck Trial (HS, HI, HX)
Monday 10/12 Columbus Day
All-Breed A Course Sheep Trial (HS, HI, HX) & Tests (HT & PT)
All-breed A Course Duck Trial (HS, HI, HX)
C Course (20+ sheep grazing, dog patrolling)
Event to be held on the fairgrounds in Springfield, OH. (Exact location tbd,
based on available grass for sheep to graze.)
Monday 10/12 Columbus Day
GSD only Trial (HS, HI, HX)
Tuesday 10/13
GSD only Trial (HS, HI, HX)
Wed & Thurs
Lots of instinct testing!
For the first time EVER onsite at the National, Tending instinct testing will
be offered.
Testers will look for a dog's willingness to honor & patrol a border while the
sheep graze.
Round pen (traditional) instinct testing will be offered.
Dog owners will have the opportunity to qualify for 2 herding instinct
certificates!
One is the GSDCA certificate & the other is the AKC herding instinct test
certificate.
The GSDCA certificate requires one exposure to pass, whereas the AKC HITC
requires 2 passes under 2 different judges.
A dog with the right stuff can qualify for the GSDCA certificate & one leg of
the AKC certificate with one exposure!!

Herding report: We have decided to offer our A-Course exhibitors a well
planned and coordinated event at the Hado-Bar Farms herding facility about 2.5
hours north of Springfield. We plan to offer three events/day on Saturday
10/10 and Sunday 10/11. 1) GSD-only A-Course sheep trial 2) All Breed A-Course
sheep trial and herding test/pretrial test (HT/PT) on sheep (GSDs will have
priority over all-breed for entries) 3) All-breed A-Course duck trial. We are
also planning on all breed sheep trial, HT/PT and a duck trial on Monday 10/12.
We plan to offer our C-Course on Monday 10/12 and Tuesday 10/13 just north of
the indoor arena at Champions Center. Also at Champions Center we will be
offering the opportunity for everyone to earn both the GSDCA Instinct Test
Certificate and the AKC herding performance Instinct test certificate.
