If any one knows other boards that they feel could be of help please forward to them. Dear Group Users; I am writing to you in a quest to find a special girl for a very special career (Guide Work). I had E-Mailed some of these lists before with very little detail of what and why I was looking for this special k9. I guest I will start off saying that I am a 25 year old male that lives in the state of Massauchetts and that I myself am visually challenged. I and my sister founded a non-profit organization for the blind. I am going to be attending UMass Boston CPCS in January in the area of Human Services (Rehab Teaching for the Blind). I have in the past worked in a puppy day care in the state of RI. I have also have had dogs in my life for some years now. I have also volunteered for an organization in RI that was for animals for a number of years prior to moving to Mass. To be up-font I don't have the resources for the cost of some of the GSDies that I would be horned to have as my guide. I am a positive dog trainer. I have not trained that many dogs but I have been told by many that I have a way with them. I love being around this great creators of mother natures, and working with them. I have found my self to be bios to German / Czech GSD ?º Ok now I will tell you about the two dogs that have made a big different in my life. First is a GSD that I raised from 8 weeks to she was 2 years old. Once she was two years old I donated her to an orgs which then went to an organization in CT area. This girl was a very well tempered, and very sound structured (she has excellent hips) GSD. She was raised to be come a working dog of some sort and she ended up become an S&R in the country of Turkey. (I am a very proud daddy of this girl saving others lives.) I at the same time applied for a dog guide from a school (I will not state which school for their sake). Well I received a little before 2 year old girl (with nearly normal hips). After having her for a year or so I had a feeling that some thing was wrong with her walking and it was put on to my positioning by the school, so I fixed myself by correcting what I was told was being done. Well I know at this time that it would take a little while for her to straighten up again so about one and half years gone by and I once again told them that she was still walking not straight and that some things is wrong with her. So they sent someone out to look at her and he said she was fine and gave me a different harness handle to have her a little away from me so I did not feel as if I was walking on her. Well it still continued, I finally had a vet appointment coming up and had them do a hip x-rays on her and not to my surprise she had hip issues (displaysionar and arthritis). Well I have high standards when it comes to working a k9 when they don't pick the job (Us humans do). So I decided that retiring her would be the best thing for her, which was against what the schools wanted to do which was to put her on drugs (remodel) and have her to work for some more years. I am not the only one that had problems with them. I contacted other schools to see what they would do and they agreed with me in my decision. I did have her on two drugs for short time frame and had adverse effects (she went to the bathroom while laying down three times in a 10min time, and upper IG issue) The nice thing is that she lives with people I know so I can see her. (To show how much I care for my babies, I had them sign a very strong contract, from having her be over weight to vet care. Also if they didn't follow the agreement then I could remove her.) She now helps with two children that are mentally challenged. Of which one is deaf, helping with breaking down communications. Well to get to the point for my posting. I am looking for someone that has a special female that is in the age range of 4 months ¡V 18 months old. I know there is a wide range here. Now I should say I prefer that she be in the age range of 12-16 months old for two main reasons. First being that I would have a better chance of getting a girl that has good or better hips in a prelim and second I can start training here right away. I prefer German or Czech GSDies over the American breed. I am looking for a Shepard that is smart, is good at problem solving, and also has a good temperament that can handle stress and recover from it quick. She has to be able to be around other animals and children. I also would love for her to like playing but is serious when she needs to be. Her pray drive can be about a medium - low. She needs to be about 22 to 26 inch from shoulder blades. I would like her not to be over 70 lbs but I am not locked in to this. So I am up-font I don't have much in the sources of funds. My parents are giving me some money (I don't know how much through yet) to assist in getting her for me for Christmas / birthday [ two days after :-( ]. I am able to do payment for a number of months if this is able to be done. I do have a stable income to support her and myself as I have done this for over three years with Brooklynne the guide. If there is someone that is willing to donate this special girl this would be the most ideal for me. I also have to still buy a number of things that normally don't need to have for a companion like harness / harness handle, raised food dishes, vest to start off with, and other odds and ends that are needed. (When I retired Brooklynne I gave all of her stuff to the family that toke her in) Any one that has a girl that fits this bill and lives in or near New England, and would like to assist me in my quest to find this special girl please contact me at: Voice Phone: 617-481-5353 E-Mail me at: spiritssight @ yahoo . com I am not sure of what else to say, if you have any question please do ask me. Once again please contact me off the list. I will post to the list with the progress of my quest and once I have found her I will also post on her training and how she is doing.
