My 10 yr. old girl is in ICU at Med-Vet in Columbus, OH - iv fluids, oxygen to be on the safe side and was a little shocky. 2 wks, ago she had a slight hack (cough), but nothing that would cause alarm, as I thought she may have choked on something. This was 2 wks. ago. She became lethargic, rapid breathing and fever of 103.8 2 days ago. My regular vet took x-rays of her lungs and saw something, so we took her immediately to Med-Vet. Her white blood cells are higher. Abdominal x-rays reveal nothing and she will have an ultrasound this afternoon. They said it could be cancer that has metasticized from another part of the body or a fungal infection. We are told that if it's a fungal infection, it can be extremely hard to treat and could take months or it may never clear up. Plus the because of the treatment, it can cause complications for other organs. Has anyone experienced this and what were the symptoms, outcome, treatment. I know if it's a fungal infection, it can come from the soil and it's been extremely dry around here. Please help!! Could you please email me privately and to the list, as I have comcast.net and have not been able to get my list email. Thanks so much. -- LuAnn ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2007.
