PERMISSION TO CROSS POST
I will be running a study session on Albuquerque's HEART animal control
ordinance at 5:30 pm, Tuesday, November 21, near the downtown area of
Albuquerque. Space is limited. If you would like to attend, please email
or call.
HEART is an exceedingly complex ordinance and it takes careful study to
appreciate the magnitude of the provisions and absurdities in the
ordinance.
HEART does a disservice to the public and to the animals we love and
enjoy.
Based on inaccuracies I have seen in the news, I would strongly urge those
in the media to consider participating in this session or a future one. I
would also suggest that government officials from areas surrounding
Albuquerque and that our State Representatives consider attending. It is
inappropriate to have the extreme ideology of the Animal Rights movement
drive public policy.
Also, Albuquerque Mayor Chavez will be asking the State Legislature to
adopt
portions of HEART during the 2007 legislative session that begins in
January. In addition, Mayor Chavez is attempting to force nearby counties
and communities to adopt provisions of HEART. All of this is unnecessary
since there are more effective, less intrusive, more humane, and less
costly
ways to address animal control issues.
By profession I am an Operations Research Analyst and must routinely deal
with complex problems. You can rely on my experience to receive a
professional viewpoint on the HEART ordinance. This study session will
provide the information you need to make an informed decision about HEART.
