That is the point. We can bitch all we want, but it is the judges that are
to blame for not considering the dog being shown and only putting up the
handler. In Jim's instance it is usually a good dog, and a great handler.
These were two different posts but this came out weird. Evan, I agree that
the judges are to blame. And to whomever wrote the first part, I disagree.
I have personally been in the ring with Jimmy who had the ugliest bitch I
have ever seen. This was an AB show and this judge had us go round and round so
many times I lost count. Each time she moved this ugly bitch up. This was a
large class so we were there awhile. The bitch finally won. Sour grapes?
No. There were some awesome bitches in that class that deserved to win over
mine. But the ugly bitch was not one of them.
Jimmy does not ALWAYS have the best representation of the breed. In fact, he
will follow the money, much like any business person. Thus, his handling Mr.
Hunte's dog. He has the clout to win and that is why he is in demand. But,
to give him credit for the way the breed is today is just ridiculous. He has
had some good dogs and some good luck. And, he is a good handler, no doubt
about that. But, there are probably 100's of Dallas pups out of many good
bitches that amounted to nothing. Nobody talks about that. How many times has
this dog been bred? You breed a dog a thousand times, to decent bitches and
there are bound to be some progeny that will excel. This is nothing against
Dallas. Personally, I like the dog.
I get tired of people extolling the virtues of someone who is no better than
the rest of us. Jimmy does not walk on water. He is a human who has used his
talent to his advantage. He knows how to play the game. Good for him but
give it a rest.
And, to the judges that don't know which end of the lead to look at, shame on
you. If you can't tell a pig from a GSD, go home.
