Chicken Soups first four ingredients are "Chicken, Turkey, Chicken meal and Turkey meal" I am quoting this from a bag I have right now. How can this be a grain based meal? Ellen Penington Paul opines... It's not "grain based" it's chicken or turkey based. You can make a meal out of anything by extracting the moisture and grinding it up. You can see perfectly the example from my earlier post. Here they list Chicken and Turkey as the 1st and 2nd ingredients. Remove the mositure and the 1st and 2nd ingredients become chicken and turkey meal. They do this by adding dried chicken and turkey powder that has been made from various parts and then turned into stock. The moisture had already been removed and it was rendered down. Only problem with that is...all parts aren't listed. It could have been all heads, beaks, and feet to make the powder so they don't have to list it as By-product meal.
