Interesting that the Vet's says giardia as the chances of seeing it in the
stool is about the same as finding a bug in a swimming pool in the sample that
is under the microscope. Generally it's the symptoms that are treated and
remember to disinfect wherever your dog has been living as can reinfect and
infect people too. I had a puppy where the Vet was actually able to see the
protozoa under the slide and everyone at the clinic had to see it. It was a
very long administration of antibiotics and goat's milk. Actually, all the
puppies got goat's milk and it was really expansive... Anything to boost the
immune system to fight infection. Hope for a recovery soon Candy!

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] Giardia
I got this e-mail from a friend of mine. I told her I would post this to the
list and Facebook for her. She's been battling Giardia with a dog she bought
last Fall as a young puppy. The dog has been under her vet's care, but is
getting worse.
Okay so here is the story I bought this dog back in Sept. the first week in
Oct he has this smelly diarrhea treated him with metronidazole and
amoxicillin the diarrhea went away then came back in couple of weeks again
treated him with the same medications, went away and came back this has been
going on since I brought him home, last Oct. It's getting frustrating the
vet says he has giardia and now he has larger worms going on so now has on
panacur. Yes this dog was feed a raw diet when I purchased him don't know if
that had anything to do with this. He's supposed to be a show dog but I
can't get his coat or him in any condition.
