Could a winner from one regional compete in another if they chose to travel??
In other words could you have the same dog going GV or select in more than one
region.?? I do like th idea of huge regional shows. I don't know if the
membership is ready to give up their one big show.

Some say there are too many Specialty shows and that is why they no longer hold
for majors in some areas. That could be true. In Oregon there are 55 members in
our regional club, There are only 3 specialty shows in Oregon per year and they
hold for majors. People on the west coast seem to be more comfortable with
traveling.we will support a show held in the east more that the people for the
east coast traveling west. I have no idea why that is.

I HAVE AN IDEA :0) We hold 3 regional national shows. Each chooses a GV and GVX
with 10 selects. THE REGION WITH THE HIGHEST ENTRY WINS and the GV and the GVX
from that region is the national GV GVX. It would have to be most dogs defeated
in the ring not just entered in the show.

Each regional club would be asked to donate money to help sponser the shows.
they could hold fun matches and agility trials and herding events. Breeders
could donate the profits from 1 puppy sale to the cause. We could ask our WDA
friends to hold training seminars and educate those who would like to know
about their sport. We could join together as a group and hussle sponsers from
our local areas This is sounding like fun already. We could get together and
work and play.

We could be on to something here :0)

Terry who is betting that Oregon Washington
California, Utah Arizona Nevada Idaho Montana Colorado would give them a run
for there money 0)

Just a thought:........ I could be WAY OFF
HERE.....................because entries are lower at the Nationals,
because air travel is more expensive, gas prices are ever rising, people
complaining about where the National is held every year, (some want it
on the West Coast, some the East, and others Central)..............here
goes, going to give it a shot...........has anyone ever considered
having three........yes, you heard that right..........having three
National shows? We can crown a West Coast Victor/Victrix, East Coast
Victor/Victrix, and a Central Victor/Victrix....and the selects from
those areas. It would be something like our furturities that are
regionally held. I bet you'd get a heck of alot more entries. I think
alot more dogs would be show cased. I think more stud dogs would be
used for peoples breeding programs. Before everyone says, "oh no, it
can't be done"......think about it. It could, and I think entries would
be way higher and it would be more profitable for all
concerned........the Parent Club, the stud dog owners and the breeders,
plus more spectators. More stud dogs that people haven't considered
using before, might now be considered because some are not shown because
of the distance involved getting to the National. More people would get
a chance to show their dogs that, perhaps couldn't before. I know I'm
more apt to go to a National on my side of the country than I am all the
way on the other side of the country. Times are changing, and when we
are seeing things that have been done in the past that was tremendously
successful, quickly dwindling away, then sometimes change is good when
it can benefit our beloved breed and the people who devote their lives
to them. Just me rambling away like usual, Barbara Galasso
