The difference between then and now is the dogs were so close in type on
both sides of the water.
Now, with a few exceptions, they are very different.
Perhaps, in the next few years the divergence will not be so extreme and we
can select from more dogs and bloodlines.
As we get better dogs here with German lines or half German lines I bet the
prices will get more reasonable. Of course, the Orientals will continue to
overpay and that hurts us all.

I disagree with Evans time line [and some other stuff] I think the best
German dogs came over AFTER the war to name a few GV Bill V klistweg GV
Troll V
Rickterbach GV Axel V Poldihaus Petra V Rickterbach Gv RasantV Holzheimer
Eichwald Gv Brix V D Grafenkrone GVX Alice VD Guten Fee . You would be hard
pressed to find a winning dog today who does not go directly back to these
dogs.
I think the change evolved from these dogs we did soooo well breeding from
the offspring ov these dogs we had no need for the German dogs. Who knows
maybe
now we could use another shot. That's a decision to be made by each breeder
