As Sandy put it... C course dogs use more sheep for longer period of time than A or B or HT or PT... so (of course) their entry fees must be larger to compensate. If we look at entry fees from a stress level, C course sheep are the least stressed. C course sheep are calmly walked thru the course & allowed to leisurely eat with 20 of their friends. C course sheep mosey along, with their head & necks low... signalling that they're not very threatened. A & B Course sheep rarely move at a flat-footed walk, are left in a scary situation with only 3-5 friends, heads & necks high, signalling they're stressed/worried/threatened. They most certainly are not relaxed enough to eat. HT PT sheep are in the same scary situation with only 3-5 friends and the most untrained dogs. HT PT sheep spend their 10 minutes skedattling around trying to save their lives. (NOT because the dogs are GSDs... it's because test level people/dogs don't have enough experience in different locations.) Looking at entry fees from the sheep owner's point of view, the HT PT entries should be most expensive as those dogs are the least experienced, most threatening to his stock. A & B Course sheep are stressed over & over, 10 minutes at a time. C course sheep are feeding their faces at an all you can eat buffet. Yawn... is it time to chew a cud yet? Looking at entry fees from a staffing point of view: C course. No stock handler. Entrant takes sheep out & puts them away. A Course. 2 people to work in the pit. With or without dog. Sheep are moved by pit crew &/or dog twice for each run. Multiply for an entire day. HT PT. Same as A course. B Course. Same pit crew as A course. Set out dog & set out person needed to move sheep out & back for each run. Multiply for an entire day. Proposed entry fees: HT PT $40 A & B $45 C $75 The dogs most likely to stress the sheep have the lowest entry fee. The runs most likely to need lots of helpers has the lower entry fees. The no stress, no helper, set it & forget it course has the highest entry fee. Since over the course of the day the most runs will be HT PT, A & B one going off every 10 minutes. Those entries are your cash cows. C course has a limited number of entries due to time... not a big money maker.... even when gouging the eyes out of those exhibitors. If the facility/stock owner isn't charging the club more for the C course sheep... why should the club charge the exhibitor more??
