When my Harley turned about five he was suddenly afraid of storms also. It was not a learned behavior because the other dogs were not afraid. A few times it got to the point where he was so terrified I had to give him a tranquiilizer ( Ace ) to calm him down. As he got older he was still afraid of storms but not quite as much. He seemed to feel more secure if he was in an airline crate. We had a bad storm about three weeks ago. I guess it is just force of habit as they say because I went to look for Harley to make sure that he was okay and then all of a sudden I realized that he was not there because he passed away last summer. It was just very strange that we had a tornado warning and the first thing that I needed to do was secure Harley in a crate. If you have a dog afraid of storms and there are other dogs there is a good chance that they will learn that behavior.
