Well we have a real winner in Ms. Olive. She asked me why I was so
interested in this ordinance when I was a Travis county resident. I gave
her a well thought out reason why, and then reminded her that Austin is in
Travis County. Now mind you I never told her whether I lived within Austin
city limits or not, she just made the assumption, a correct one but she
still can't be sure, that I was not a resident of Austin. This is what I
got back in reply:
"We are asking the city to vote on this, not the county. If you live inside
the city limits of Austin it will pertain to you. If you live in the county
it WILL NOT. Just like the road side pet sales do not pertain to county
residents and never can because county laws are different then city laws.
I am voting for this ordinance and I have had over a year to think about it.
I will not change my mind. People who do not live in Austin and what to tell
the citizens of Austin what to do, do not impress me. In fact they have the
opposite effect."
Talk about a closed minded person with an agenda. I am of half a mind to
reply back that those with closed minds that are unwilling to listen to or
compromise on the concerns of the citizens for which they are advising do
not impress me much either, and like her tend to have the opposite effect.
Maybe I should just leave this person to her rose colored misinformed world
and work on someone who is willing to listen and work out a compromise.
