David's first email:

Dear Lew and Ken,

    I am now in Randers, Denmark for the WUSV World Championship.  The hotel 
has WiFi (which I did not expect) so I have access to the outside world.  (I 
was out of contact for several days and am trying to catch up.)

    The weather is chilly and rainy and everything here is extremely 
expensive!  From what I can tell, Phil Hoelcher has been doing an excellent job 
as 
Team Captain for our folks, and practice has gone well.  Even our Alternate Jim 
Lempner has prepared extremely well.  (Last year two of our dogs were hurt, but 
this year everybody stayed healthy so Jim will not get a chance to show.)  
Wolfgang Henke was not able to be present at the draw yesterday evening so I 
was 
asked to open the event on behalf of the Board of Directors of the WUSV.  I 
will give you more details about the evening when I see you in St. Louis.

    Today was the first day of competition.  Wallace Payne turned in a 
beautiful protection routine and received 98 (V) !  Charlie Meszaros received 
85 in 
tracking.  Tracking scores were not good today and a number of competitors did 
not do well (2 out of 3 USCA competitors failed).  For completeness, the 
day's scores for the USCA folks (all in tracking) were T. Floyd - 90; Gus Elfer 
- 
56; Martin Vollrath - 14.  

     Tomorrow Wallace does tracking and Charlie does obedience.  I will try 
to report again at the end of the day.
