[ SHOWGSD-L ] Futurity system - unpopular suggestion

One other thought would be to start
the Futurity Finals on Wednesday at 8 A.M. but rather than use the National
judges use a breeder to judge the finals.

I like this idea.
Also, of concern to some handlers is the long day this would make for them,
wear and tear on the body, stressed joints, etc. Why not make it a Futurity for
handlers, also?
No one who has been handling professionally (Juniors doesn't count) for more
than 5 years could handle in a regional or national futurity or maturity.
This would encourage and support new handlers and reduce the wear and tear on
more "mature" <G> handlers at the National. There have been instances at the
National of handlers breaking down, injuring themselves, falling, etc., very
possibly due to stress on joints and muscles, and to shear fatigue. Yes, I
KNOW,
the unpopular part of this is the money $$$$$$ the present handlers would lose,
but we must start somewhere making room for the next generation and some
handlers out there are not getting any younger!! This would address two
concerns:
the physical stress on older handlers and the real need to encourage new
handlers. It would also put all exhibitors in the same position of hiring newer
handlers.
